LANDSLIDE IN HIMACHAL PRADESH'S KINNAUR DISTRICT KILLS TOURISTS

Landslide in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur religion has resulted in the death of 8 tourists, while injuring 2 others. The incident happened along Sangla-Chhitkul link road, which is located near Basteri. The dead tourists are from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. The injured tourists are from Delhi, and Mohali, while another injured person was reported to have been from Kinnaur.

The landslide caused massive boulders to fall on a tempo travellers that caused the deaths, and the injuries. Unfortunately, the landslide also destroyed the bridge that connects Batseri with the rest of Kinnaur. On the other hand, the road that connects Sangla-Chhitkul with the rest of Himachal Pradesh is now blocked - mentioned in the reports.
That the unfortunate incident took place at around 1 pm, and that the incident occured along the link road where the bridge is damaged - Jagat Singh, MLA, Kinnaur mentioned.

In a video posted on social media, it can be seen that the large boulders are rushing down the hillside, falling on cars, and eventually breaking the bridge. People are seen taking refuge indoors in the video, but those travelling in the tempo traveller were caught right in the middle of the disaster.

"It is very sad that a vehicle carrying tourists came under its grip, in which nine died and two injured and one passerby got injured. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family" - Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur expressed grief, and tweeted.
