Devotees' enthusiasm for the Char Dham yatra, which begins on May 3, is at an all-time high, with more than one lakh pilgrims registered so far. For pilgrims' safety and well-being, the Uttarakhand tourist administration has made registration for the yatra compulsory this time. As a result, pilgrims are enrolling online at the organization's website.
The Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Uttarkashi district will open on May 3 this year, kicking off the Char Dham yatra. On May 6, devotees will be able to enter Kedarnath's gates, and on May 8, devotees will be able to enter Badrinath's portals. From May 3 to May 31, 15,829 pilgrims registered for Yamunotri, 16,804 for Gangotri, 41,107 for Kedarnath, and 29,488 for Badrinath, according to Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar. With the Covid pandemic situation stabilising, he expects a big number of pilgrims to attend the yatra this year. For the very first time, they will have the option of registering and verifying their information online.
Their registration information is given to the relevant district governments so that they can track how many worshippers attended the temple on which days, according to the official. He added that it will also assist the administration in making better preparations for worshipers visiting Himalayan temples.
