How To Reach Egypt

By Air

Reaching Egypt by air is easy, as the country has several international airports. The main airport is Cairo International Airport, located in the suburb of Heliopolis. This airport is served by numerous international airlines. There are also several other airports in Egypt, including Luxor International Airport and Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport.

By Land

Reaching Egypt by land is possible by crossing into Egypt through its land borders with Gaza, Israel, Libya, Sudan and Chad.

Local transport

Public transportation in Egypt is based mainly on buses, microbuses, and taxis. The Cairo Metro, which links Heliopolis, Giza, and downtown Cairo, is the only underground railway system in Africa.

The majority of buses in Egypt are operated by the state-owned company the National Company for Public Transportation.
Microbuses are a popular form of transportation in Egypt, especially in rural areas. They are typically operated by a driver and a conductor. Taxis are also a common form of transportation in Egypt. In Cairo, taxis are painted black and yellow and are typically metered.
