In an attempt to reboot tourism, Phuket has introduced a 2-week travel program named "Phuket Sandbox". This travel initiative is open to 63 countries and three territories. As per the Tourism Authority of Thailand, travellers must carry a Certificate of Entry along with insurance proof up to $100,000. The insurance money is to cover COVID-19 treatment (in case). "For people who have been closeted up in their apartments for 16 months, the idea to fly to Thailand where there's a beach and you're a normal guest, yes you're being quarantined here but this is more than 500 square kilometers of quarantine and you've got national parks, golf courses, you can go diving — it's really not a quarantine" by Anthony Lark, President of Phuket Hotels.
Guidelines: * Travellers should be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival. * Carry a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours. * After arriving in Thailand, travellers are supposed to take a COVID-19 test again. During their stay, they would be required to take two more tests. * Stays must be booked at government approved hotels and all staff should be vaccinated. * For location and health tracking, travellers will have to install Thailand Plus and Morchana apps.
After a two weeks period, travellers would be allowed to travel throughout Thailand under the same restrictions.
