The park is named after Pench River, which flows through the park. The park has an area of 758.4 km². It is located on the southern edge of the Satpura Range, in the Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh. The park is divided into two blocks, the North Block and the South Block. The North Block is located in the Chhindwara district, and has an area of 392.9 km². The South Block is located in the Seoni district, and has an area of 365.5 km². The park is home to a large number of animals, including Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, gaur, chital, sambar, barking deer, nilgai, and wild boar. The park is also home to a large number of birds, including Indian peafowl, gray junglefowl, Indian cuckoo, Indian rollers, Asian koel, and Indian pitta.
