About Manasbal Lake

Anantnag Manasbal Lake is a freshwater lake in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley, about 45 km from Srinagar. The lake is fed by the Jhelum River and the Manasbal Nallah. The lake has an area of about 4.4 kmĀ² and a maximum depth of about 9 m. It is a popular tourist destination, and is surrounded by forests and rice fields. There is a small island in the middle of the lake, and a shrine dedicated to the Sufi saint Shah-e-Hamdan. The lake is a Ramsar wetland of international importance.
