About Forte di Belvedere
Florence Forte di Belvedere is a medieval fortification in Florence, central Italy. It is located in the Oltrarno district, on the south bank of the River Arno, in the Belvedere area. The fort was built in the 12th century by the Uberti family, who controlled the area. In the 13th century, it was acquired by the de' Medici family, who extensively modified it.
