About Obelisk of Theodosius
The Istanbul Obelisk of Theodosius is a red granite obelisk that stands in the Hippodrome of Istanbul. It is one of the few surviving obelisks from the ancient world. The obelisk was originally erected in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis in the first century AD. It was moved to Constantinople by the Roman emperor Theodosius I in the fourth century AD. The obelisk is now located in the Hippodrome of Istanbul. It is one of the few surviving obelisks from the ancient world.
