Some of the popular bird watching spots in the district are: The Kopili River is a good place for bird watching, especially during the winter season. Many migratory birds can be seen here including the Brahminy duck, the common kingfisher, the Indian roller and the hoopoe. The Srimangal Reserve Forest is another good place for bird watching. This forest is home to a wide variety of birds including the Bengal florican, the great hornbill, the Oriental pied hornbill and the Indian pitta. The Balphakandi Wildlife Sanctuary is another good place for bird watching. This sanctuary is home to a wide variety of birds, including the white-bellied heron, the purple heron, the spot-billed pelican and the Indian pitta. The best time for bird watching in Karimganj district is from November to February.
