Naini Lake is a freshwater lake located in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the few remaining high altitude lakes in the country. The lake is about 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level. The lake is almost round in shape, with a circumference of about 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi), and a depth of about 25 metres (82 ft). It is fed by the Naini River, which rises in the Kumaon Hills to the east. The lake is a popular tourist destination, and is home to a large number of aquatic birds. Boating and fishing are popular activities on the lake. There are also a number of religious sites around the lake, including the Naina Devi Temple.
