Mussoorie is a hill station in the Dehradun district of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is located in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, about 35 km from the state capital Dehradun and 250 km from the national capital New Delhi. The place derives its name from a shrub known as Mussaenda frondosa, which is found in plenty in the area. The town is also popularly known as the "Queen of the Hills". The town is situated at an altitude of 2,000 metres (6,562 ft) in the Doon Valley and is surrounded by forest. It has a temperate climate, with average temperatures ranging from 5 to 23 °Celsius (41 to 73 °Fahrenheit). The town is a popular tourist destination and is home to several tourist attractions, including the Kempty Falls, the Bhatta Falls, the Camel's Back Road, the Company Garden, the Library Bazaar, and the Christ Church.
