Nahan Rani Tal is a small hill station in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located in the Sirmaur district, about 129 km from Shimla. Nahan is the district headquarters of Sirmaur district. It is a picturesque town in the Shivalik hills, with the Sivalik range forming its backdrop. The town is situated at an altitude of 1,350 metres (4,429 feet). The Raja Rani Tal (Lake) is a popular tourist destination, located about 2 km from the town. The lake is named after the rulers of the former princely state of Sirmaur. It is a artificial lake, formed by the construction of a dam across the Bani river. The lake is a popular spot for trout fishing. The town is also home to the Nahan Fort, which was built by Raja Sansar Chand in the early 18th century. The climate of Nahan is cool temperate. The average maximum temperature in summer is 30 degrees Celsius and the average minimum temperature in winter is 6 degrees Celsius. The best time to visit Nahan is from April to June and September to November.
