The Shanghai City God Temple is a Taoist temple located in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China. The temple is dedicated to the City God, a deity who is believed to protect the city and its people. The temple was first built in the 15th century, and has been rebuilt and renovated several times since then. The current temple was completed in 2006. The Shanghai City God Temple is open to the public from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
The City God Temple is open all year round. However, the best time to visit is during the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) when the temple is decorated with lanterns and the atmosphere is festive.
