Digboi is a town and a municipality in Tinsukia district in the Indian state of Assam. The town is located in the Assam Valley, and is the administrative headquarters of Tinsukia district. It is also the birthplace of the first oil well in Asia. The town is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, and is connected to Dibrugarh and the rest of Assam by road and rail. The town is known for its oil refinery, the first in Asia, which is operated by the Indian Oil Corporation. Digboi is also home to the Digboi Club, a social club which was founded in 1884 and is the oldest in India.
