History of Rabdentse Ruins
The Rabdentse Ruins are located in the West Sikkim district of Sikkim, India. The ruins are the remains of the capital of the former Kingdom of Sikkim. The ruins are located at an elevation of 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level. The Rabdentse Ruins were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 2000.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit West Sikkim is during the summer months of April to June. The weather is warm and pleasant with plenty of sunshine. The monsoon season starts in July and lasts until September. The region experiences heavy rainfall and the weather is humid and wet. The winter months of November to February are cold and foggy.
How to Reach Rabdentse Ruins
Rabdentse Ruins can be reached from Siliguri or Gangtok. From Siliguri, take the NH31 highway to Gangtok. From Gangtok, take the Rabdentse road and drive for about 16 km. The ruins are located on a hilltop and can be reached via a staircase.
