About Scuola grande di san rocco The Scuola Grande di San Rocco is a Venetian Renaissance-style scuola, or guild, building. It is located in the sestiere of San Marco, in central Venice, and is one of the city's most famous and visited landmarks. The scuola was founded in 1478 by the Venetian painter Tommaso da Modena, and was originally dedicated to the saint and martyr Rocco. The building was designed by the prominent Renaissance architect Jacopo Sansovino. The faรงade, completed in 1564, is an ornate example of the Venetian Renaissance style.
