About The louvre The Louvre Museum is a world-famous art museum and one of the largest in the world. It is located in the city of Paris, France. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, which was originally built as a fortress in the late 12th century under Philip II. The museum was opened to the public in 1793. The Louvre Museum is home to some of the most famous artworks in the world, including Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's David. The museum also features a large collection of Egyptian art, including the famous Rosetta Stone. The Louvre Museum is open from 9am to 6pm daily, except on Tuesdays when it is open from 9am to 9:45pm. Admission is €15 for adults and €7.50 for students.
