About Walk up the travertines Pamukkale, meaning โcotton castleโ in Turkish, is a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in western Turkey. The site is a series of terraces of white travertine, a mineral deposit left by the flowing water of the hot springs. The terraces are best viewed from the top, and the walk up is not too difficult. There is a small entrance fee to the site, and it is open every day from 8am to 5pm.
