OMAN INDEFINITELY SUSPENDS FLIGHTS FROM 24 COUNTRIES, INDIA IS IN THE LIST

Oman has suspended passengers flights from 24 countries, including India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan indefinitely, as part of the Gulf nation's efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
The flights have been suspended until further notice, and that the decision was taken as part of the country's measures to contain the Coronavirus pandemic - The sultanate’s official Twitter account for countering COVID-19 stated. Reportedly, the other countries that have been included in the list include the United Kingdom, Lebanon, Tunisia, Iraq, Iran, Brunei, Libya, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Sudan, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania, South Africa, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina .The ban on arrival of flights from some of these countries has already been in place since April 24.

Reports have it that Oman on Wednesday reported 1675 new cases of COVID, which pushed the number of infections in the country to 280235. Meanwhile, several countries have started allowing Indians to fly in for non-essential travel as the country continues to report a stable COVID situation. As per the reports, Germany and Maldives are the latest countries that have opened their borders for travellers from India.

However, the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that it hopes other countries would ease the travel restrictions on India as COVID-19 situation in the country ‘vastly improved’. The Ministry added that the issue is also being taken up with partners, including those in the Gulf.
