After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the traditional Amarnath Yatra will resume on June 30. Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, recently declared this.
According to sources, the pilgrimage will take place for 43 days between June 30 and August 11 and online registration has already begun.
In this regard, the Lieutenant Governor requested that the relevant officials be active and verify that all necessary measures are in place for a successful pilgrimage this year.
According to reports, the government would also implement an RFID system for tracking pilgrims' journeys.
In preparation for the yatra, Nitishwar Kumar, the shrine board's Chief Executive, said that additional health facilities, enhanced strength for shelter, communications networks, improved routes, and helicopter facilities have been put in place to make pilgrim travel easier.
According to reports, the board noted that the pilgrimage will begin at the same time on both routes — the Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and the Baltal track in Ganderbal district and that only 10,000 pilgrims will be permitted per day on each journey, excluding those who travel by helicopter.
Pilgrims would be able to use a battery vehicle, and devotees from all over the world will be able to watch live telecasts of morning and evening aarti. Additionally, there is an application available on the Google Play market for people who want to acquire real-time information about the trip and the weather.
