About Epigraphic Museum

The Athens Epigraphic Museum is a museum in Athens, Greece, dedicated to the study of inscriptions in marble, bronze and other materials. It is located on the north side of the Acropolis, opposite the Acropolis Museum. The museum was founded in 1885. The building is a restored neo-classical mansion, formerly the residence of the German Archaeological Institute. The museum contains a collection of inscriptions from the Greek city-states, as well as inscriptions from the Roman and Byzantine periods.
