Mae Sot is a town and district in Tak Province, Thailand. Mae Sot is located 685 km (425 mi) northwest of Bangkok and is the westernmost district of Thailand. The town was founded in 1892 as a military outpost. Mae Sot District is the most populous district in Tak Province.
 
Mae Sot is a major border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar. The town has a population of about 63,000 and is situated on the banks of the Moei River. The district has a population of about 253,000. The main industries in the district are agriculture, trade, and transportation.
Mae Sot is a popular destination for tourists who are interested in exploring the Thai-Myanmar border region. The town has a number of guesthouses and restaurants. There are also a few markets where you can buy souvenirs.
