About Saint-Salvator Cathedral

The Saint-Salvator Cathedral in Bruges, Belgium, is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Savior. It is the seat of the Bruges Archdiocese and the largest church in the city. The cathedral was founded in the 8th century by Ansfried, bishop of Utrecht, but the present building dates from the 13th century. The main façade, flanked by two towers, is in the Gothic style. The church has a nave and two aisles, with a transept and a choir. The stained glass windows are from the 14th and 15th centuries. The cathedral is the burial place of Charles the Bold, last duke of Burgundy.
