Crete Mount Ida is one of the most popular hiking destinations on the island. It is located in the Rethymnon regional unit, in the Psiloritis area. The hike to the summit of Mount Ida is about 7 km long, and it takes about 4-5 hours to complete. The trail is well marked and mostly easy to follow. The hike starts from the village of Anogia, and it goes through the traditional villages of Krousonas and Prines. The final ascent to the summit is quite steep, but the views from the top are definitely worth the effort. The summit of Mount Ida is the highest point on the island of Crete, with an elevation of 2424 meters. From the summit, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the entire island, as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of mainland Greece.
