Sandakphu is a peak in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At 11,929 feet (3,636 m) it is the highest peak in the Singalila Ridge. The mountain range is part of the Himalayas. The trek to Sandakphu is one of the most popular treks in the Darjeeling district. The trek starts from Manebhanjan and takes around four days to complete. The first day of the trek is a gradual ascent to Phalut. The second day is a long and steep ascent to Sandakphu. The third day is a long descent to Tumling.
 
The fourth day is a short descent to Manebhanjan. The views from Sandakphu are spectacular. One can see Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and other Himalayan peaks from the summit. Sandakphu is also a popular place to watch the sunrise. The best time to watch the sunrise is in the early morning in the month of December and January. There are a few tea gardens around Sandakphu. One can buy tea from the tea gardens and enjoy the views of the Himalayas while sipping a cup of tea.
There are a few guest houses around Sandakphu. One can spend a night at a guest house and enjoy the views of the Himalayas from the balcony of the guest house.
Sandakphu is a beautiful place and a must visit for anyone travelling to the Darjeeling district.
