About Istanbul Archaeology Museums
Archaeology Museum The Archaeology Museum is one of the largest museums in Istanbul, Turkey. It is located in the Eminönü district of the Fatih district. The museum is dedicated to the history of archaeology. The museum was founded in 1881 as the Imperial Museum of Antiquities. It was renamed the Archaeology Museum in 1923. In 2004, the museum was moved to its present location. The museum contains a collection of artifacts from the Paleolithic era to the Ottoman period.
