About Yoros Castle
Yoros Castle is a medieval castle located in the Anadolu Hisarı quarter of Üsküdar district in Istanbul, Turkey. The castle is on the Asian side of the Bosphorus Strait, on the slopes of the Black Mountain. It is thought to have been built by the Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Komnenos in the late 12th century. The castle saw extensive use during the Ottoman period, and was the scene of the last stand of the Ottoman Empire in 1878. Today, the castle is a popular tourist attraction.
