Located on the southeast coast of India, Machilipatnam is a port city in the Krishna district of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The city is known for its exports of silk and cotton textiles, and for its shipbuilding industry. Machilipatnam is also a popular tourist destination, with attractions including the 16th century Machilipatnam Fort, the temples of Kapiladeva and Simhachalam, and the beaches of Bhuvaneshwari and Kondapalli.
