Kodaikanal is a city in the hills of the Dindigul district in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a popular tourist destination, situated 2,000 metres above sea level. The name Kodai (meaning "the end") is derived from the Tamil Kodai கோடை, meaning "the end of the hills". The town is known for its large number of schools, including the Dindigul International School, the American International School of Kodaikanal, and the Kodaikanal Public School. Kodaikanal is famous for its many viewpoints, including the Suicide Point, the Green Valley View, and the Pillar Rocks. It is also home to the Berijam Lake, which is a popular spot for boating. Kodaikanal is also a popular spot for shopping, with many local artisans selling their wares in the town's many markets.
