Kovalam is a world-famous beach town in Kerala, India. It is located around 16 km from the city of Thiruvananthapuram. Kovalam means a "grove of coconut trees". Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent-shaped beaches. The three beaches are known as Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, and Samudra Beach. Lighthouse Beach is the most popular of the three, and is home to a lighthouse that was built in 1902. Hawah Beach is known for its serene and peaceful atmosphere, and is a popular spot for yoga and meditation. Samudra Beach is the most secluded of the three, and is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. Kovalam is a popular tourist destination, and is home to a number of hotels, restaurants, and shops.
