Kufri is a small hill station in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located about 25 km from Shimla, the state capital. The highest point in Kufri is the Indira Point, at an altitude of 2,622 metres (8,600 ft). Kufri is well known for its trekking and skiing opportunities. The Mahasu Peak, at a height of 2,865 metres (9,396 ft), is also located in the region. The Kufri Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Kufri Hills of Himachal Pradesh, India. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 16.36 km2 (6.3 sq mi) and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is known for its rich variety of avifauna, including the Himalayan griffon vulture, the bearded vulture, and the golden eagle.
