About Naggar
Naggar is an ancient village in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, located on the left bank of the Beas River, about 22 km upstream from the town of Manali. The village is known for its picturesque location, historic buildings, and association with the painter and sculptor, Nicholas Roerich.
The village is dominated by the Naggar Castle, a former royal palace of the Kullu rajas. The palace, now a museum, contains a collection of paintings and sculptures by Roerich and his wife, Elena. Other notable buildings in the village include the Christ Church, the Shiva Temple, and the Raghunath Temple.
Naggar is a popular tourist destination and is home to a number of guesthouses and restaurants. It is also the starting point for a number of popular trekking routes, including the trek to the summit of the Deo Tibba mountain.
