Paris Palais du Luxembourg is a palace in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France, on the left bank of the Seine. It is the seat of the French Senate, of which it is the headquarters. The palace was built as a royal palace for Marie de Medici in 1612. It was later used as a residence by Louis XIV and by Napoleon and was almost destroyed by fire in 1871. It was restored and used as a Senate palace by the French Third Republic. It has been the home of the Senate since 1879.
