Tuticorin Ottapidaram is a town and a municipality in the Tirunelveli district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of Ottapidaram taluk. The town is located at the foot of the Western Ghats, on the banks of the Tuticorin coast. The town is a major industrial center in the state. The major industries in the town are a copper refinery operated by the state-owned Tamil Nadu Copper Industries Ltd. (TNCIL), a cement factory of the Tamil Nadu Cements Ltd. (TANCEM), and a thermal power station of the state-owned Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). The town is also a major agricultural center in the state. The major crops grown in the town are rice, sugarcane, groundnut, and cotton. The town is also a major producer of milk in the state. The town is connected to the rest of the state by a network of roads and railways. The town has a railway station and a bus station. The town is also a major port on the Tuticorin coast. The major exports from the town are copper, cement, and electricity.
