Fun Facts about FIFA World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup is a quadrennial international football championship contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946, due to World War II. The current format of the tournament involves 32 teams competing in a group stage, followed by a knockout stage.

The bidding process for the 2022 World Cup was controversial. Qatar's bid was the first to be announced, on 2 December 2010. The country was not considered a favourite, but beat bids from the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. Allegations of corruption were made against some members of the Qatar bid team but finally they were proved clean.
