Road traveling is one of the most popular ways of traveling post covid. Especially when you have so many hill stations in the vicinity. Delhi is blessed to have so many spots for a weekend getaway in a 300km radius. But, we are bored of going to the same places again and again like Mussoorie, Shimla, Nainital etc. Also if you plan to travel in the month of June, which is typically the summer holidays period in schools and colleges, you are bound to be stuck in long jams, busy mall roads and super inflated accommodation.
Even though the hill stations are 300kms away, with the amount of traffic jams, it easily takes around 7-8 hours to reach any of these places depending which part of the NCR you live in and what time you leave from home. Weekends, and especially the long weekends are a menace for traffic jams.

Peaceful Grand View Resort

Peaceful Grand View Resort View Gallery - 3
Here is what we did this time. Our main aim was to reach the property and check-in within 6hours of travel, which includes the tea break halt also. The second important thing was no crowded area and peaceful place where you can relax in nature. So after our research on the net and the peer network we decided on a place in Himachal Pradesh called Nahan. Around 15-16kms ahead of Nahan, there is a small and very peaceful place called Jamta. On the hill top there were 2 resorts, and we booked the resort called “The Grand View resort” and the name justifies it.  The way to the place was pretty neat, we took NH44 till Shahbad took a right onto the state highway and to my surprise the road were pretty neat and clean, except a few patches of course.

So we left Delhi at 6AM and we reached the resort at 12PM, with a 30mins halt for breakfast. This is a kinda place where once you enter then you are inside the resort only throughout. There aren't any local tourist attractions, but the resort compensates for it. It isn't a very luxurious resort nor a very widely spread one, but a decent resort where you can enjoy a 2-3days vacation. It has all the amenities like Swimming pool, Table tennis, Spa, Massage, pool table and Kids play area. The Evenings were fun, the resort organized games for kids and couples in the main front lawn, while people sip onto their choice of liquor. The games end with a round of Tambola which was cherished by all the inhouse guests.

Shri Renuka ji lake

After spending 2 nights at this resort, we headed to a place called Shri Renuka ji lake which is around 25kms(1hour drive) from the resort. The route is not that busy and the width is also just enough for 2 cars to pass by. The lake is surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary cum forest area on 3 sides, which makes the view at the entrance majestic. The boating inside the lake is currently closed due to courts orders, but you can walk around the lake and feed the fishes. The Renuka Ji temple is also in the vicinity, and if you have come so far, you can pay a visit there too.

Verdict

There are no private hotels here, but just Himachal Pradesh tourism’s hotel situated to give the best view of the lake front. If going pre book the 4 lake view rooms which are there to actually enjoy the evening tea with the sunset over the lake.
So next time if you wanna skip all the hustle and bustle of the main tourist attractions and spend the extended weekend with our loved ones in some peace and serenity you can visit these two places.
