A Family Getaway to Mahabaleshwar 3N/4D

Pratapgarh Fort Located at a distance of 24 km from Mahabaleshwar, the Pratapgad Fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1656. It consists of two forts - an upper fort built on the top of the hill and a lower fort resting towards the south. Shivaji defeated Afzal Khan, General of Bijapur in this very place. To mark this historic event, a statue of an equestrian Shivaji was built at the top of the fort in the year 1959. Afzal Khan's Tomb and Bhavani Temple are other attractions situated near the fort. It is believed that Shivaji was blessed with a shining sword at this temple. The fort also boasts of a beautiful view of the Konkan Coast.
