The zoo was opened to the public on 22 October 1978. The zoo has a collection of about 1,500 animals, including about 100 species of mammals, 300 species of birds, and 70 species of reptiles. The zoo also has a botanical garden with a collection of about 2,000 plant species. The zoo is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
