About Kurukshetra Kurukshetra is a city and a municipal corporation in the state of Haryana, India. It is also the headquarters of Kurukshetra district. The city is located about 158 kilometers north of New Delhi and about 61 kilometers from Chandigarh, the state capital. Kurukshetra is also known as Dharmakshetra (เคงเคฐเฅเคฎเคเฅเคทเฅเคคเฅเคฐ, "The Land of Dharma"). Kurukshetra is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu god Krishna and the scene of the epic battle of Mahabharata. The city is home to the Kurukshetra War Museum and the Kurukshetra University. Kurukshetra is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims. Every year, a number of religious festivals are celebrated in the city, including Makar Sankranti, Basant Panchami, and Janmashtami. Kurukshetra is well connected to other cities in India by road and railway. The city has a railway station and a number of bus terminals. The nearest airport is the Chandigarh Airport.
