About Lamayuru Lamayuru is an ancient monastery situated in the Ladakh region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The monastery is located in the western Ladakh region, in the Leh district, on the banks of the Indus River. It is one of the most important monasteries in Ladakh and is home to around 150 monks. The monastery was founded in the 10th century by the great yogi Naropa.
