About Manali sanctuary
Manali Sanctuary is located in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, in north-west India. The sanctuary is situated at an altitude of about 1,700 metres (5,580 feet) and is spread over an area of about 116 square kilometres (45 square miles). The sanctuary is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including Himalayan black bears, brown bears, leopards, wolves, and deer.
The sanctuary was established in 1952, and it was first known as the โKullu Forest Reserveโ. In 1984, it was renamed the โManali Sanctuaryโ. The sanctuary is open to the public from mid-April to mid-November.
