About Nandi bull and paintings The Lepakshi Nandi Bull is a large monolithic sculpture of a bull located in Lepakshi, a town in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The sculpture is 3.5 metres (11.5 feet) high and 10 metres (33 feet) long, and is said to have been sculpted in the 16th century. The bull is carved out of a single block of granite. The sculpture is located in the Lepakshi Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. The temple is famous for its large collection of frescoes, which are painted on the walls and ceilings of the temple. The frescoes are said to be the largest surviving collection of ancient Indian paintings.
