About Nubra valley The Nubra Valley is a high-altitude Himalayan valley in the Leh district of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 125 km (78 mi) north of Leh. The Nubra Valley is sandwiched between the Karakoram Range to the east and the Ladakh Range to the west. The Nubra Valley is a popular tourist destination, especially for visitors travelling to Leh. The main attraction in the Nubra Valley is the Diskit Monastery, located in the town of Diskit. The monastery is one of the oldest in Ladakh and is home to a large statue of the Maitreya Buddha. Other attractions in the Nubra Valley include the Panamik hot springs and the Khardung La Pass, at an altitude of 5,602 metres (18,379 ft), the highest motorable road in the world.
