About Saptaparni caves Rajgir Saptaparni Caves are a group of seven Buddhist caves located in the Rajgir hills near the city of Rajgir in the Indian state of Bihar. The caves are said to have been excavated in the 2nd century BC and are Buddhist in nature. The caves are believed to have been used by the monks of Nalanda University for meditation. The caves are also said to be the birthplace of the first Buddhist nun, Bhikkhuni Sanghamitta.
