How To Reach Nepal

By Air

There are many ways to reach Nepal by air. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, has an international airport that is serviced by many airlines.
If you are not flying into Kathmandu, there are also airports in Pokhara and Biratnagar that have international service. There are also airports in Bhairahawa, Janakpur, and Lamidanda that have domestic service.



By Train

The easiest way to travel to Nepal by train is to take a train to India and then cross the border into Nepal. There are several train stations in India that are close to the Nepal border, including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Patna. From these stations, you can take a bus or taxi to the border crossing and then cross into Nepal.



By Road

The easiest way to reach Nepal by road is to drive from India. There are several border crossings between India and Nepal. The most popular crossings are the Sunauli-Bhairawa border crossing and the Mahendra Highway border crossing. There are also several crossings in the east of Nepal.



Local transport


Public transportation is the backbone of any city. Kathmandu is no exception. The city has an intricate network of buses, minibuses, taxis and rickshaws that ply the roads, transporting people to their desired destinations.
Taxis are also a popular form of transportation in Kathmandu. They are metered, and are generally more comfortable and spacious than the buses and minibuses.
