The country's first 'Amrit Sarovar,' which was inaugurated in Rampur district, is currently in Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and state Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh performed the inauguration.
So Rampur's Amrit Sarovar is one of 789 ponds that the Uttar Pradesh government plans to create. The construction of this water body cost around INR 60 lakh. This, according to Swatantra Dev Singh, will not only assist save groundwater but also encourage tourism in the state.
The government will also ensure that there is enough flora in and around the water bodies. The forest and horticulture departments, as well as the Jal Shakti ministry, will collaborate on this initiative.
