Baltal is a small town located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located at a distance of 14 km from the Amarnath Cave Shrine. Baltal is well connected by road to Srinagar and is also well connected by air to the rest of the country. The Amarnath Cave Shrine is one of the most popular Hindu pilgrimage destinations in India. The cave is located at a height of 3,888 meters above sea level and is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The cave is said to be the site of the legendary Amarnath Yatra, a pilgrimage that is undertaken by millions of Hindus every year. The Amarnath Cave Shrine is open for pilgrimage from the month of June to the month of August.
