The Charlottenburg Palace is a Baroque palace located in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, Germany. It is the largest palace in Berlin and one of the most important examples of European architecture of the 17th century. The palace was built at the behest of Sophie Charlotte, the wife of Frederick III, Elector of Brandenburg. Construction began in 1695 and was completed in 1705. The palace was named in honor of Charlotte, who died in 1705.
