Chamoli district is one of the districts of Uttarakhand state in northern India. The district is bounded on the north by the Tibet Autonomous Region and the district of Rudraprayag, on the east by the district of Tehri Garhwal, on the south by the districts of Dehradun and Haridwar, and on the west by the district of Pithoragarh. The district headquarters are located at Gopeshwar. The district is divided into four tehsils: Gopeshwar, Karnaprayag, Pipalkoti and Joshimath. The district is home to the Hindu pilgrimage sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath.
