About Vithala Temple

The Vithala Temple at Hampi is an important Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. The temple is located in the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, which was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple is considered to be one of the finest examples of Vijayanagara architecture. The temple is famous for its 56 stone carvings of musicians, which are housed in the roof of the temple.
